iTerm - a better alternative to the apple terminal

Here’s a quick tip for you mac switchers coming from *nix backgrounds and are tired of working with the built-in terminal in OS X.

There’s a much better alternative out there and best of all, it’s free.

Meet iTerm.

iTerm

As you can see, iTerm supports tabs, it looks much better than the default terminal. You can customize colors, fonts, transparency, charsets, pretty much anything.

So if you’re getting tired of the old terminal head over to iterm.sourceforge.net and grab your free copy of iTerm. You won’t regret it.

Note: to get the arrow keys working in VIM you need to go Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks and edit the default profile, changing the keyboard to “Global”
