Quick tip: Custom ringtones on the Samsung SGH-I600

After getting my Samsung SGH-I600 (Blackjack to you living in the states) I struggled a while to get used to the logic in Windows Mobile as opposed to Symbian, which I had used in my previous smartphones.

One problem I had was that I couldn’t get mp3 tracks I had on the phone to be recognized as ringtones by the phone. The very simple answer to this problem was to place the tracks that you want as ringtones under
My Documents\My Ringtones
and not in My Music :)

Because this tip was so simple I’ll give you a second tip free of charge:

If you wish to edit your songs to be more suitable for use as ringtones check out Audacity, which is a free, open source cross-platform audio editor that is fairly straight-forward to use.

Happy hacking!
